This is a print of an original acrylic artwork by Grace Wilkinson. It depicts Cable Bay, at the top of the South Island. The calm, rolling hills are reflected in the shallow tides lapping onto the sand.
Cable Bay, also known as Rotorua (which translates to ‘the red glow of the sun setting on the water’), is located just northeast of Nelson. There is a narrow causeway at the top of the bay where Pepin Island connects with the South Island. The bay is a popular spot for sea kayaking and snorkelling.

About the Artist
Grace grew up in Whakatu, Nelson, and now lives in the picturesque Moutere countryside, painting from her tiny home. Her work reflects the beauty around her, known for its lively and joyful nature. She’s drawn to natural scenes and charming structures with interesting textures, pops of colour, and light.
Grace simplifies her paintings, allowing colour and light to tell the story, encouraging viewers to fill in the gaps with their imagination. Currently working with acrylic, she also enjoys experimenting with gouache, watercolour, and pencil.
