Lucy Rice is a full time Artist based north of Auckland. Her pieces combine heavy body acrylics & oil pastels to create intuitive abstract pieces with deep notes of velvety forest greens, earthy golds & burnt umbers feature heavily, often layered with clay pinks, turquoise & yellow ochre tones. The paintings play with the idea of physical & metaphysical landscapes as one
She is interested in the way colour balances each other through the composition of forms & expressive marks, in turn the painting becomes a source of energy to a space, bringing about a sense, feeling or emotion.
Lucy has a BFA from Elam School of Fine Art (Auckland , NZ).
