Hamish Thompson

Hamish Thompson is a Wellington-based designer specialising in symbol, identity and information design. Christchurch born and bred, it was the devastating earthquakes in 2010/2011 that moved Hamish to design a series of 12 graphic artworks depicting iconic heritage buildings lost to the city.

The buildings range from nineteenth century theatres to twentieth century gems like the Christchurch Railway Station. He also celebrates Wellington’s architectural mix with a series of art prints featuring iconic mid-century buildings, as well as modernist houses and churches. Recently Hamish has extended his interest in heritage architecture to include other New Zealand cities like Dunedin and Auckland.
