About this print
A series of paintings inspired by mangroves and the important role they play in our ecosystem. The mangroves are important filters working to protect a dynamic river system. Many of their branches are bent low over the water. Gnarled, and knotty, they cast shadows over murky waters.

About the Artist
Lucy Davidson grew up on the Tutukaka coast in Northland and moved to Auckland to attend Elam School of Fine Arts. She graduated with a BFA (Honours) in 2013. She has traveled extensively, around Europe and Southeast Asia, and has worked on a wide variety of artistic projects. These include large scale murals, independent graphic design work, and a film internship. Her abstract paintings explore the notion that nature and human emotion are interconnected and affect each other.
Memories are inherent in our natural landscape. Colour and scale represent her own emotions and connect people to theirs. Lucy is currently engaged in working with at-risk youth, using art to retell stories and engage in dialogue.
