About this print
Originally painted with gouache on cotton rag, a woman sits on Whangamata beach, gazing towards Whenuakura Island (also known as Donut Island for its unique shape). The artwork seamlessly blends flat shapes and crisp lines, which are then softened by the delicate texture of the paintbrush strokes, all enveloped in a dreamy colour palette.

About the Artist
Grace Popplewell is an Auckland based illustrator, designer, and painter. Since she could hold a pencil art has been a way for her to capture the beauty in her surroundings, and she struggles to look at anything without wanting to turn it into an art piece.
Grace loves to explore a variety of media and styles; from bold digital illustrations, to intricate detailed realism, to expressive paintings. Grace is inspired by the endless possibilities of a blank canvas, and she hopes that her work conveys the excitement and joy she has in creating it.
