The National Library of NZ Te Puna Mātauranga o Aotearoa was designed in 1973, but delays in construction were caused by the Boilermakers’ Union strike.It had to be redesigned in reinforced concrete in order to bypass the strike. The National Library was the last major building to be completed by the Ministry of Works before it was disestablished in 1988.
