This landmark building, which houses the executive wing of New Zealand’s central government, has become a symbol of Wellington as the country’s capital city. In the 1960s British architect Sir Basil Spence provided the conceptual design of a modern round building rising in steps. The architectural design was undertaken by NZ architect Fergus Sheppard.
