About this print
These stunning penguins have distinctive coats with vibrant yellow markings. These social birds, gather in huge colonies, breeding on the sub-Antarctic islands of New Zealand and South America.
Kings are the second biggest Penguin, after the Emperor Penguin. They don’t hop like some Penguins, instead they waddle on their large webbed feet. Like Emperors, they don't build nests, but incubate a single egg on their feet, tucked under their brood patch. Young penguins look very different in fluffy brown coats, and were originally mistaken for a different breed. They moult into adult plumage around a year old.
King penguins can dive up to 300 m deep, staying underwater for up to 9 minutes. All Penguin species are protected from hunting, but are vulnerable to habitat destruction, overfishing, pollution and human interference.
Edition open in all sizes, hand-signed in A1 & A0
