About the Artist
Crystal May lives in Ōhope, New Zealand, and is never far from the ocean. Her photographic work reveals the moments found when fully immersed in nature’s elements. What began as curiosity has become a deep, evolving relationship with the sea—one that continues to shape how Crystal sees, feels, and connects. Being in the water slows everything down; it draws her into a space of presence where light dances, silence speaks, and even the smallest moments carry meaning. It’s here that calm and creativity meet, and her photography becomes less about documenting a scene and more about expressing a feeling—that meditative pause the ocean seems to offer.
