About the Artist
Luca Walton is currently based in Tāmaki Makaurau, the “Polynesian capital of the world”. Born in Lautoka, Fiji, to a Tongan mother and Kiwi expat father, Luca’s paintings are a reflection of his heritage, cross-cultural identity and incredible childhood surroundings - the beautifully vibrant Kingdom of Tonga.
Luca draws inspiration from this unique upbringing, and the strong Pasifika women integral to life; his softly spoken traditional Tongan mother and his three older sisters, who all hail from different island nations, illustrate the value of family, and exposing him to the beauty that the Pacific has to offer.
Luca intends his art to be a love letter to these important Pasifika women who continue to demonstrate unique strength and beauty.
