About this painting
One in a series of four. Leaves and feathers, large and small, cascade into a receding forest. The birds, each depicted in a similar size, contribute something of equal value to the environment. Each has its own colour, its own unique song and movement. The honeycomb shape hints at their interconnectedness.
Media acrylic, metallic pigment & high gloss resin on board
Size 400mm x 400mm hexagon
Framing unframed solid wood panel with painted edges
About the Artist
Lucy Davidson grew up on the Tutukaka coast in Northland and moved to Auckland to attend Elam School of Fine Arts. She graduated with a BFA (Honours) in 2013. She has traveled extensively, around Europe and Southeast Asia, and has worked on a wide variety of artistic projects. These include large scale murals, independent graphic design work, and a film internship. Her abstract paintings explore the notion that nature and human emotion are interconnected and affect each other.
Memories are inherent in our natural landscape. Colour and scale represent her own emotions and connect people to theirs. Lucy is currently engaged in working with at-risk youth, using art to retell stories and engage in dialogue.
