Natasha Wong is an Auckland based artist who graduated in 2014 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Honours) degree, majoring in Painting at the University of Canterbury. She moved to Auckland in 2017 and produces artwork in a shared studio space in the CBD.
Since 2012, Natasha has depicted portraits of alternative musicians in her paintings and currently experiments with the abstraction of their faces to remove them from their identities and create visual illusions. Primarily influenced by visual elements portrayed in Byzantine art and altarpieces as well as Andy Warhol’s silkscreened portraits of celebrities; her paintings represent personal icons and cryptic images.
