About the Artist
George Sand Studio is the creative alias of Waikato based multidisciplinary artist Carmel Van Der Hoeven. Carmel uses illustration, painting and ceramics to explore her creative ideas resulting in a diverse range of art . Carmel’s work is very intimate and often depicts domestic scenes from her everyday life, with the use of colour, gesture and texture Carmel transforms ordinary subjects into exciting artworks that are evident of the human hand that has created them.
