Two leading practitioners have come together to create a unique new book. Designer Grant Alexander and photographer Solomon Mortimer document the history of Montrose Foundry in Penrose Auckland.
Started in 1950, the foundry is still going strong in the same premises, with little changed since those early years. The story is told through the eyes of the colourful character John Abbott, son of the co-founder George Abbott.
John’s story telling, Solomon’s photography and Grant’s design combine to produce a very rare snapshot of our industrial past. Story telling at its best, strung together with honest photography and expressive design.
